Tough call.  Probably the bit before I turned 6, back when I didn't know how weird I was.

Other than that, there's really nothing I'd want to have back to do over until senior year of high school, which I hardly think can be considered "childhood".

QotD: The iPhone 3G is Here!

Are you going to be amongst the first people to buy the iPhone 3G? If so, when do you plan on picking yours up and which one will you be purchasing?


No need.  Unless you have a compelling need for 3G coverage or GPS specifically, the existing iPhone with the firmware upgrade should do you just fine.  Does for me - but then, I do live in Silicon Valley, home of pervasive free Wi-Fi, which is far faster than 3G most of the time.  And since I rarely leave, what do I need the GPS for?

But if you don't have one, now's the time to buy, certainly.

Is that supposed to be some kind of euphemism?

Actually, yeah, I do have a bad habit of buying whatever I think I need to, whenever I feel like it.  Normally I have at least some cursory justification, or keep it low enough that it's not a huge amount of money, or do something like "at least I'm not blowing it on cigars or booze anymore" - but I fritter away more cash than I really should on just nothing, especially when I should be saving because stuff keeps going up and up and up (esp. gas).

QotD: What Can Blogging Do for You?

What does blogging do for you?

Two things:

1) Lets me actually work things out in print, such that I can articulate my thoughts and work on developing them to a logical and coherent point.  Which is generally a good thing and prevents rambling on.

2) Lets me get feedback on these thoughts such that I know that I'm not alone and not crazy, and that there are other people who concur with my opinion and indeed are pleased with my elucidation.

OK, three things:

3) Lets me drop words like "elucidation."
