How many pair of shoes do you have? Out of those pairs, how many do you wear more than a few times a year?

Far too many. However, I routinely rotate through nine pair (four pair of Docs, two pair tennis shoes, two pair loafers, one pair cowboy boots) and probably have another nine in the closet (three more pair Docs, 3 pair assorted Oxfords, one pair hiking sandals). And I am actively scouting at least two more pair of shoes...I think it may be time to consider that I am, in fact, a chick.

As the April 15th tax filing deadline looms, many gay couples are facing higher tax bills because they do not get the federal tax benefits that accompany marriage. The same is true for heterosexual couples who chose not to get married. Do you think this is fair?

I'm not sure I see why anybody should get a tax benefit for being married. Buy the ticket, take the ride, and don't expect Uncle Sam to give you a pat on the back for it. To be honest, I'm not sure the government should be in the business of authenticating relationships anyway...if you want to enter into a contractual partnership, fine, maybe some sort of joint limited liability corporation, but it strikes me as a bit silly to say "we're going to involve the government in this particular phase of human relationships." I would think that most small-government advocates or libertarian types would think similarly...

...that Dr Martens are bringing out a line of "Vintage" boots made in England. Read that again. For the first time in five or six years, they will actually build Docs in England's green and pleasant land.

I almost wish I hadn't popped for the Solovairs now. On the other hand, maybe a pair of 8i cherry 1460s is just what I need for Christmas. UK 11, if anyone feels like making my year.

Seriously, it's like Docs that aren't made in the UK aren't really Docs. I've as much as stopped wearing all my Docs that aren't, which leaves me with 3 pair when you get right down to it. None of them 1460s, which is why I had to get the Solovairs. Plus they were only £55. I'm sure the Vintage line will be double that.

Totally worth it, if you ask me, but I am positive my old man will rise from the grave and smack the taste out of my mouth for spending over $200 on a pair of shoes.

What role did you play in your school play?

7th grade, I was Chief Elf.

8th grade, I was the keyboard player.

Of course, I also wrote both of them. I think I also wrote a third, but I'm honestly not sure what it was about - might have been a murder mystery or something? I think it got performed, and it was teh suck compared to "The Elves Go On Strike" or whatever the one with punks, rednecks, and aliens at Thanksgiving was called.

I guess I should be pleased that I knocked out two plays and had them performed before I turned 14 ;]
